C.Sanchez.A
Just a little something that happend to me yesterday. On my way back from work, my newly instaled read passenger 6X9 started making a distorted tinging type noise. I was like damn did I blow it!? Once I got home I took the rear deck off and pushed down on the cone. Sure enough it`s blown. The funny part is, it`s hooked up to the stock HU with no amp. So now, I guess it`s time for the upgrade I was going to get this summer, now. Here is a vid of the ''after math'' Edited March 30, 2011 by C.Sanchez.A Quote Click Links To View Build Logs 1994 - Mazda B3000 (Daily/Toy/Show) 2002 - Mazda Protege (Daily) 1995 - Hyundai Accent (R.I.P.) 1984 - Bronco II (Restoration Project) Youtube Channel
PUNKYOU007
I have heard plenty of stock speakaz blow off a HU. If its just a daily beater and you dont care to spend a ton, pick up some cheap replacements. Edited March 29, 2011 by PUNKYOU007 Quote Doethepaperboy "Bars of Pain" Doethepaperboy "Hero Remix" C. blownengine
The stock HU could have been throwing out a distorted signal. Did you have any bass going to the speakers? Alot of stock speakers are 8ohm, while aftermarket is 4ohm. So more power going to newer speaker with more bass.
ChevyBoy95
HUs depending on filters can allow a midbass on a coax or component to play to low of bass and it distorts. Mine would distort so I amped them and there crisp no matter what Quote Best Score to Date : 160.5 dB Outlaw (47Hz)[4 XM 15's & 2 Taramps Bass 12k's] BL : http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/147800-chevyboy95s-4-15s-7krms-wall-1533-db-on-half-power/YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/hitemwiththeflex/
C.Sanchez.A
Yeah, I know exactly what made it blow. I had the bass on the hu all the way up (no sub yet). I'm surprised the other one hasn't blown yet. While we are on the subject, which 3 way 6x9 should I get next? Don't worry I will be hooking these ones up properly.
