8 10"s or 2 18"s @ 5000 Watts RMS Total

I'm assuming you're referring to the subwoofer? The potential subwoofers if I were to go with 18's would be AA Mayhems. the 10's would be AA Arsenals.

There are far to many variables to determine what kind of SPL your system will produce. I'll let someone else chime in regarding loads, I have a hard time grasping ohms

im wondering this to but if the 10s move only an inch..how would they compare to the 2 18s moving 4 inches lol by looks the 10s have more area but could the 18s still move more air?

As far as my physics knowledge extends. The volume of the air being moved is far more important than the surface area of the moving object.

As in, looking at the cone area, yes the 10's have much more cone area in total. However if you look at woofer excursion in combination to the cone area, the 18's have potential to move much more air. To me this sounds like (assuming the box's are optimized) the 18's would be louder in this scenario. Since they can move more air?

Is this even close to the right logic?

thats what i took a stab in the dark at..altho 10 10's would look epic..if want high spl would the 8s be better..

From my understanding:

Ten 10"s:

Pros:

• More wow factor as in, (OMFG THERE IS TEN 10"s IN THERE)
  
• More Cone Area (From my understanding, cone area essentially is one of the main determining factors in moving air, so ten 10"s would supposedly get louder.) There are varying factors of course.
  

Cons:

• Usually more expensive. (More Drivers, More Wiring etc.)
  
• More time consuming to install.
  

Two 18"s:

Pros:

• Usually less expensive.(As stated in cons for 10"s)
  
• Easier to wire.
  
• If problems arise with subs, you have 2 options to determine where the problems coming from not 10.
  
• Has a wow factor but no where near 10 10"s
  

Cons:

• Might not move as much air as the 10"s
  
• Heavy.

No it would be two amplifiers. Depending on impedances it would be the AQ 2200's or the 3500's.

Are you suggesting I only use one amp or are you asking if I am using only one amp? lol. Just wanna be clear

I never thought about excursion! I was thinking about doing multiple 10s or an 18 for my next upgrade and never even thought about excursion but from what i've heard cone area is king so I would say the 10s because of the WOW factor and because of the cone area difference
