You got plenty enough room for a single 12 in a ported box. Where you're going to get the sub, materials, amp, and wiring for under $250 I have no idea. But I'd shoot for a single 12 off about 1000 rms.

EDIT: Type R 12 would fit your budget and perform very well for the price.

You could fit like 1 or 2 of these they're low power so u dont need a big expensive amp and my friend has 2 of these but the 12" and it hits decently.

The problem with the SA-8' is he said he had approx. $250 to use. I know for a fact he will have to spend more then $250 but SA-8's are a little too over kill for his budget.
