n8ball2013
Anyone done any testing to see just how close is too close? Ive got probably three inches between rail and the exhaust on my passenger side along with thermotec exhaust wrap and heatshield for wrapping the wire but Id rather get some feedback on just how close is too close before I melt 6 15 foot runs. Im figuring on the space I have and the heat wraps in that area will be fine but wire aint cheap. I dont want to secure it all completely and realize im going to need to move it. meade916
3" with something over the wire should be OK. As long as it doesnt make contact with the pipe, you should be good. I would monitor it and make sure that doesnt happen. Other then that, i dont see a problem. I normally put slightly crinkled up metal-tape over mine when they get close like that and have never had a problem. OrionStang
Hey N8, My 4 runs are about 3 inches(probably less for 2 of them) from my header under the hood. Its been that way for a while and have yet to melt the wire jacket. Granted, the heat probably isn't the best environment for conductivity. I get very little voltage drop and no wire problems. My wire is Knu KLMX. SMD Super Seller My Feedback Thread
n8ball2013
I figured itd be ok or I wouldnt have started it but the thought of having to redo six runs spooked me. Thats why I got the thermotec exhaust wrap and the thermotec heat shield. I guess Ill have to take the pig out and fill it up fucked up wheel and all. OrionStang
Just want to add that my wires aren't wrapped in anything, probably a good idea to do it though. But like you, I don't want to re-run a bunch of 1/0. SMD Super Seller My Feedback Thread
