IMO yes. I think anything over 50ish pounds should prolly be nutted. Under fifty is just too small for my tastes. I can't really see myself nutting anything under 50 pounds, just because the nut would be wasted. The hefty ones should always be nutted. BBW can be dangerous if you don't use your nuts wisely. Seriously though, I'd rather pay $5 in nuts and bolts than, say, get in a car wreck and have my screws snap.

Ok so my nut would be wasted unless I like to get my subs off regularley:)So I should just stick with screwing my subs with good sized drywall or deck screws. Quiet Posted June 5, 2011 Report Posted June 5, 2011 so from my understanding, if your gonna put your speakers in the box and don't plan on switching them out, or taking them out, very much, you can use screws. But if you put your subs in and take them out all the time, that's when you use t-nuts. Ding Ding Ding. If you got a double baffle I don't think you'd have to worry much about sheetrock screws coming loose, especially if the subs are facing up. The big issue I see is loosening by changing out subs. Nothing worse than trying to screw a loose hole. 2007 Pacifica Rebuild. Less quiet. Still not loud.

She's good at nutting, I'm good at screwing. I like to use 1 5/8" drywall screws, the work nicely. sig'd 2007 Pacifica Rebuild. Less quiet. Still not loud.

I use #10 pan head screws 1.5 inch long too. I use #10 pan head screws 1.5 inch long too. aren't your subs triple baffled? screws have a lot to hold onto there... I've always been on the safe side and used t-nuts after I saw one time how screws failed. I'm not saying that they don't hold most the time, but it's possible that they break.
