The diagram you showed displays you running the amp at 2 ohms bridged which means trouble for your amp. I have them wired like that just not bridged. I know not to bridge them

You should wire the right 2 speakers and the left 2 speakers in parallel to make it 4 ohms each side of the amp. The way you have it explained is 2 ohms...which doesnt make sense. Now. what amp is your "friend" running on his and how are they wired. he's probably got his mono at 2ohm or is running 4ohm drivers where your's are only 8ohm.
