DudeWith4x4
I was wondering if I could get your opinoin on if you guys think this would work. I was wanting to be able to have a port that would sound good for daily listening to the subs and then I wanted to be able to add a section to raise the hertz. Its basically just a PVC thats flared at one end and the other end is sleved where it can slide in my other port. So what Frequency should I tune box for SPL? I have a Ext-cab f150. Here you can see the port Ill be sliding it into. Quote -Ross Project Layla Truck: 99' F-150 Gathering things for my next build. BJD3
Unless I'm overlooking something, this would do the opposite of what you want. You would be extending the port, and dropping the tuning. i r confuzzled. Quote Anti Peel and Seal...lol You may be offended by the above. DudeWith4x4
Wow I may come out lookin like a total idiot here. So if I add to the port it'll make it tuned higher? I was wanting to go from like 36 to like 50 some htz Quote -Ross Project Layla Truck: 99' F-150 Gathering things for my next build. wizart383
Usually longer port=lower tune freq. You should down load the torres calculator and play with the port length. Or the psp port calculator should work also.
Autruche
Make it so that the port is mounted to a removable plate. then you can have your big high tuned burp port in for competitions, then take the port out, then slide the lower tuned daily port and plate in. DudeWith4x4
The port in it right now is tuned to about 35-36hz. My question is if you add port you can tune it to like 50hz for comps? is that the best frequency? Quote -Ross Project Layla Truck: 99' F-150 Gathering things for my next build. Louisiana Bass
If you add port, you get lower frequency. To raise tuning, you have to be able to somehow shorten it up. Quote N8. No homo...unless you want there to be.

I've never competed or ever thought about it till a guy at a shop told me I should today.. Thank all of you for your input as well and bearing with me. In theory, you want to burp as close to the resonant frequency of the car as possible, i´m saying in theory because this isn´t a constant, for example, my explorer´s resonant frequency is 51 hz but i´m using big ass and efficient boxes now and they peak lower than 51 hz but i still get louder on the meter Anyway, yes you want higher frequencies for comps, you just need to get a shorter port with a higher frequency and leave your current port with a 35 hz tuning for daily. Said that, easiest wat for you would be to find a meter for an hour or something like that, get a 40 hz tuning port and start cutting the lenght of that port until the score starts dropping on the sensor, that would be your comps port, if you don´t have acces to a meter, then i would say something like 45 hz tuning port for comps?? i dunno really, i´m just throwing ideas...
