It's a damn close fit so it shouldn't take long to get it together! Mine on the other hand is a 10" tablet, so I have to rebuild the whole dash kit which is a 7" opening to fit a 10" item!! Kind of like when Don..................never mind, I'll leave that one alone............................. Really though, you can do most of that work indoors. I'm going to tackle mine as soon as I get my car back this weekend. So I have on the list of things to do, test fit the box (I'm 99% sure it has to be built inside the trunk) remove the alpine head unit and replace with oem head unit test faceplate extension (AGAIN) Start getting the tablet install going (AGAIN) All while trying to fit in family time and two birthday parties! So today put together, tomorrow finish and detailed, and HOPEFULLY, tomorrow night, Friday morning latest! Yeah me too. I was happy when my wife and I finally said, for lack of better terms, fuck it we'll just keep it and pay it off. Sux in a way cause I really wanted to do the truck, but this is my daily and I'm in it about 98% of my drive time in my life. SO it was well worth it to just focus on it instead of the truck. I'll do the truck after this is done. I'm still not 100% convenced on the extension but I might as well keep trying cause if it works the way I think it will, I'll be able to put it in a custom pod on the ceiling above the rear view mirror and then I'll be able to see the volume numbers and clock and everything else. Wish it had a volt meter like the 80PRS but I needed the money and Dre was kind enough to give me some money for it! LOL! But I'd still like to go Pioneer as a head unit, I think they just look so much better than the Alpines. I'm looking at the DEH-P9400BH or the new one for 2013 even, I think the DEH-P9500BHS or something like that. I just need to see if the board is the same behind the plastic face on the body, the black one that screws to the cage. Having trouble finding someone to take theirs off and take a picture of it. I don't want to spend a couple hundred bucks on a unit I can't use. Anyway, we're getting close to alot happening. I have lots of pics already, for a build log, but I don't want to go there yet. Also, another reason I'm slacking on pulling the entire radio console out, is because it has the integrated climate controls. No radio console = no heat. I will be removing it for the actual mock up and fabrication though. Not gonna half ass this project.
