Dale
so then theres absolutely no reason to build a box under 37hz tuning if you own a fully loaded 18" btl? sounds fishy to me. doesn't make sense to me either. I usually set my SSF to about 15-20 Hertz
Scapelli21
can i ask a side question?....sorry for the jack....does it make a difference if my freq. knob on my amp no longer works? will it hurt the subs? I cant remember the last time it worked either though.... ChevyBoy
Really this is because the BTL is meant to be a SPL sub or one note.So its not really made for music, but meade and some other people have found a way to make it work. thats why theres a daily/spl option when buying them? Slinky
as far as im concerned this sub is just as good daily as it is for comps. and yes there is a daily/spl option. Guest dropthabeat.com
the difference between the spl option and the daily it the gap inbetween the motor and coil. bass is right, if your box is tuned to 37hz or 34 or whatever, then you need to set your subsonic filter to CLOSE THE GAP! that's "how meade got it to work somehow, magically" these subs are not designed for high excursion!! that's coming STRAIGHT FROM THE OWNER OF THE FI WORLD Scott himself. i've been there and done that with these subs. if your ssf is not funtioning right, or not set right, this is what you get. destroyed 3 15 and a 12 btl before we found that. and yes we are rocket scientists. with pistols. wrathchild281
On my kicker zx amp all i see is the gain, bass boost, and x-over frequency which only goes down to 50hz. Do the zx amps not have a ssf? Scapelli21
i am guessing ssf is subsonic frequency Edited October 18, 2007 by Scapelli21 Quote 2003 Chevy Trailblazer LTZ Pioneer 980BT 16 SA-10's - 4th Order Bandpass NS-1 - 3 D3100's DC & XS Power, Audio Technix, Sound Deadener Showdown Team Sundown Audio

bassINyoFACE
your amp will say subsonic and you have for ex: 10-40hz on the dial. many amps do not have them so you'll have to buy an external from harrison labs, google them. and yes ssf = subsonic filter. and yes we do have pistols. many. wrathchild281
Kicker tech told me the zx has a ssf but its built in and set to 25hz. Is this sound to low? My box is is ported at 32hz should i run into any problems playing music that goes down to 25?
