I'd recommend not attempting to build a wall in this case. As well safety should definitely be a important concern....

my brother inlaw has been buildin boxes for awile now he just never did a wall and he would be helpin but thanks u got any ideas on how to make the setup i have now louder

u definitlely need more port area it looks like..why dont u just rebuild a box like ur current one, but just make the port considerably bigger?

I wouldn't attempt a wall if your new at building boxes. I would spend some time working on a few box designs before you attempt a wall.

Walls are no joke and take some skills to get them right and to build so they won't kill you going down the road.

Keep it simple and start slow. if your doing a 44 now then you can gain a whole lot before you go to a wall.

yea but the box was built to specs for the subs for max spl so i dont understand why the ports would have to be bigger

there is no way those ports maxumize spl...im telling u...open that port up and should sing a bit more...

actually, how big is each port and how big is the box?

yea im goin i think pass on the wall im gonna just work wit what i got cause i no i can get it a good amount louder i still have to sound deaden it cause as u see where the ports are it rattles the hatch a whole lot

what do u think about the box i have in there now would it be louder wit the ports up beings theres only like 5'' from the port to the hatch let me know thanks bro

the box is a total of 9.0 cubic from side to side its 38'' and from back to front its 26'' and i can remember off hand the height maybe 17'' and the box was built from the sounstream specs

with a 9 cubic foot box u should have about 12-15" of port area per cube...thats 108-135" or port area...no way the ports are that big...rebuild it..

You cans top saying that becasue the person(s) who built that box dont know what they are talking about...

Subs up, port back is the loudest box set up you can have in a suv/hatchback vehicle without doing a wall.

SPL = sound pressure levels.

SPL enclosers are designed to get loud, mostly at one note, spl ports are a lot bigger then normal everyday ports and are tuned a lot higher. It looks like you are lucky to have 30 sqaure inches of port there, where as a spl encloser port will have 120+ square inches.

Those ports are too small, what happens with too small of ports? All the air cannot escape from the box fastly or efficently enough. Your box will be sounding and playing like it is a sealed box. Sealed boxes are quiet compaired to a ported box. Not to mention that a correctly built ported encloser will gain you at least 3-4 db's.

And you "maybe" be correct about the box being bult to specs as far as size, and tuning, but I will put money down that you do not have the correct port size. You can build ports 4 times the size that you have now, and still have the box tuned at the same frequency, but this falls back on the person(s) doing the building, if they think that its a "spl" box now, they are not going to know how to maximize the box for the best performance or build a new one for that matter..

Listen to people on this site when they try to help you, king suv has what twelve 12s in his excursion and has rebuilt his box 3+ times that I know of. I think he would have good advice and soulitions to give...
