Description of HOW to invert subs?

Recommended Posts

switching polarity only matters if you invert one sub and keep the other normally mounted.

wrong answer your subs hit they move out of the box so if you invert them... you need to switch + and - so once again the sub is now playing in phase with the box.... read and learn before you give out false info... thanks

haha, and you say he's giving out wrong info??

YEA cause what you are saying is that it does not madder what the polarity is on a speaker when in a box... when u get board go out side and flip your polarity and tell me that you can not hear the difference... than come write back...

Pretty sure that isn't what he is saying. The sub or the box won't care if they are in phase or not. Everyone knows that subs have to be in phase with each other, but it is equally important that all speakers be in phase with each other. If you invert your subs, reverse the phase so they stay in In phase with everything else.

i had a pair of mmats (entry levels), one inverted, one normal. forgot to switch the polarity of the inverted one. only did 135.2. fixed my mistake, and did 138.8.

OP, for simplicity's sake. When you invert the sub, you invert the polarity. It stops cancellation close to the crossover frequencies between your sub and midbass. Or in the case of having say.. 2 subs, one inverted and one normal - it will stop the two subs from cancelling each other out.

Just invert it, depending on your setup, it may or may not make a significant difference, but you certainly have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
