I currently have a SM2-1200 amp that is 600W/2ohms/2channels. My question is if I replace the 18ga CCA speaker wire with 12ga pure copper wire speaker wire will it change the impedance or the Ohm load on the subs will it? I replaced the wire from the amp to the back of the box from the 18ga to the 12ga. I am currently thinking of replacing the wires on the back of the sub itself. Pics are below. Supercharged DCs Posted July 7, 2011 Report Posted July 7, 2011 If all you are doing is upgrading to a larger wire, no it will not change the impedance. Bassless once again. Can't seem to keep a system for more than a few weeks Saving for a '06 Nissan 350z, look for build around June 2012.
