This holds some truth. If you have expensive cables connecting midrange components, then no, you won't hear the difference. If you're running high-end audio, then yes, you will hear a difference. At that point, the question isn't if there is a difference, it is what the difference is worth to you. I'd buy Knu if I were you. Good cable for a good price.
