Well this job has it's good points. Right now I make about $1,200 a week after taxes. I might stay out here for 3 or 4 weeks at a time but when I get home I have a few weeks off to do whatever I want. When I am out here I have no expenses! My only expense is driving to the boat dock or heliport & I get paid $0.53 per mile. All my food is paid for out here. They serve 4 meals a day, all you can eat. Steak on Tuesday & Saturday, Seafood day if Friday, Fried Chicken on Sunday. They do all your laundry for you. They make your bed every day, clean your room, ect. Free Satelite TV, Internet, Pool table, ping pong, you can fish when your shift is over. It's really a pretty sweet job! If you really think about it, I come out really good with no daily expenses. No driving back & forth to work every day, ect. Sometimes it kinda sucks being out here for such a long time but it is well worth it when I get home & I can sleep late every day & do whatever I want on my days off.

That makes me want to quit my 4 year school and catch the next heli down there :D

Damn man, looks like your having a hell of a day. Hope everybody's okay.

Wow, you work on an oil rig. Thats some serious shit.

Hey, your opinion, have all the rigs out there recovered from katrina yet?

If presumably yes, why are gas prices still expensive?
