I didnt brace the motor. Mine does not have the stem that sticks out of the motor for extra support. I just got some 3/8" 3" long bolts from home depot and put 3/8" t-nuts in the back side of the baffle.

No problem man. There really isn't any need in my opinion to brace the motor. Yeah the motor is heavy and sticks out really far to add to the weight when mounted sideways but considering i made the opening on my baffle too large so that the t-nuts don't have all that great of a grip to the wood on a few areas it holds strong. I cranked down the bolts hard too so that is not going anywhere.

The only real time i could justify making a motor support for a sub like this would be if its a wall setup and you don't have help getting them in the enclosure. Holding a sub like this up and in the box probably is hard as hell to do but i never tried it as i just took my box out, put the box on 2x4's and had the sub facing upwards.

Like the build and it sounds loud man. I'd love to hear it in October when I go up to Tonawanda for a party my cousin is throwing.

I finally got off my lazy butt and took some new pics of the system, still looks pretty much the same as before, only difference is the amp for the subs, neater wiring in the back, relocated mids and high amp to allow my rear seats to fold up and lock, additional control knob so i can adjust the main volume off the 3sixty.2 remote and just the SMD off the DC Audio remote and a carbon fiber dustcap on the reconed SMD. Now to let everyone know I know i messed up the glue on where the dustcap is, i put too much of it down and when i pushed the cap down onto the cone it spread out from underneath the dustcap and made a mess and just my luck the glue hardened within 3 seconds so i couldnt wipe it to make it neat at all. Im not too concerned about it though, that cap is staying on there great.

Its kinda hard to tell but the dustcap is black and blue. It really pops in the sunlight when you look at it from different angles, this picture was taken at night with my cameras flash on.

CD254195.jpg

Relocated the mids & High (DC Audio 175.4 to the top of the box instead of the rear and now you can see the DC Audio 5.0k installed on the top of the box.)

CD254198.jpg

Neater wiring than i previously had with the view of where i mounted my XS Power Intellicharger and the 3sixty.2 as well as the two DC Audio 5.0k amp fuses.

  • 3 months later...

Another update is coming maybe over my winter break from college. I am going to attempt my first time at fiberglassing to install my carputer and two vu-din's to the center part of my dash. Now this is not going to be installed until the spring time when its warm enough as i have to extend the wires for my HVAC controls and find a place to relocate them since the screen takes up damn near the entire area.

the dash panel i am going to build with (currently my stock one will stay in until i get ready in the spring to swap them out for each other, that way i have the stock one if i sell the truck)

crude setup of what i was thinking to do with the dash (please note that i just set the vu-din's and touch screen on the dash bezel, they are not recessed like i planned to do to them):
