Also how long had you played on the sub with the cresendo 3k before you set the gains with the dd1. For the coil to come unwound in the gap, that would be caused by a badly clipped signal that quickly heats up the epoxy that holds the coil together. CJ18 Posted August 22, 2011 Report Share Posted August 22, 2011 Just because your gain was turned way down does not mean that it was not still clipping. If your RCAs were putting out 2v and you had the gain turned past about 1/4 then you were most likely clipping. you can also cause a clipped signal by cranking up the bass boost.
