Stee-Z Posted August 23, 2011 Report Share Posted August 23, 2011 my stetup 9515 DD on an AQ 2200 , if u turn my headunit to lets say half volume, i have loudness off bass boost off everything, my AQ clipping light turns on, which is normal. My buddy who has a 9512 is louder at where mine clips out and where he turns it up for demos. i turned mine up where the clipping light is on, and my windshield flexes like crazy, now i have a headache, after being use to my system for 2 weeks. My buddy says the clipping won't hurt it unless it starts to smell,, then back off My question is, am i able to play my music "windshield flexing crazy" even with the clipping light on, safely? I have not smelt anything at all from the sub " as for as today went". I really like the loudness of where i could potentially have it. But i also want to be "safe" thank you! Team_DC-Derrick Posted August 23, 2011 Report Share Posted August 23, 2011 clip lights can be horribly inaccurate... i wouldnt trust them at all, get a DD1 or a oscope and see if you are clipping, only way to be safe.. BJD3 Posted August 24, 2011 Report Share Posted August 24, 2011 My experience: When I was setting my gain with the DD1, the clipping light was solid red while the DD1 said there was no distortion. I'm thinking the light comes on AT the clipping point instead of when there is actual clipping. Granted, this is the M1a and not the AQ2200, but being that the knobs are interchangeable, I would think they are similar enough to draw similar conclusions. And the dd1 does what it claims to do..
