STEvil
Coil size doesnt actually mean a lot as its the same guage of wire for them all (basically). If you want more power handling you need more effective coil area and multiple separated coils (not multiple coils wrapped on top of each other). SMD's are an example of a true split-coil design which offers a larger potential increases in power handling than just going to a larger coil. Couple an SMD (the stacked coil configuration specifically) with a better cone and two DDz neo style motors.... MickyMcD - "Capable of making some serious trouser flapping volumes at where's-my-testicles frequencies, the Servo-Drives used to be fairly jaw dropping..." Any time you have have a power wire next to your frame put some rubber hosing (or cut up an innertube) around it. The wire is bound to wiggle (due to driving or flex) and the casing will eventually wear through. Hammerdown... 1% no links to outside websites, business related FB/YT pages allowed. AA98hoe
Id like to see how much power a smd could handle. What about lvl 5? I've seen 24k put on 2 and do mid 160s at a dbdrag. n8ball2013
http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/79540-soundstream-xxx-18/ it will go 7K all day every day if you scoll down ^^^^^ and he's also a team soundstream guy so of course he's going to puff it up. I think soundstream has the title to be honest soundstream watts are not real world watts. ask anyone who bought their amps expecting rated out of them. I have a buddy that has 1 XXX 18 and it's connected to 4 Rockford Fosgate T2500BD ( yes I said four ) And the 2 pairs of them make 5000 rms each because they can become "one" monster amp. let's see videos or pics of this "buddy" Go ahead and try to put 10k on a XXX. I'll be waiting for your results. dc 9k at 16v wired down in a boot burped at 55hz gave me a 147.0 did that 5 or 6 times before it died. just saying.. so then it really didnt take it well did it lol DD Z subs are only meant for 60HZ spl. One sub tho hit something like 171db at 10000 watt burst you should probably stop posting now. I know people that daily their Zs Yeah the Z is a one tone sub.. Music would souns shit on it.. I bet the coils gap is tighter than a baby's A-hole lol.. And that neo motor is HUGE.. With loadsss of force in there. Magneticly wise, the Xxx is a baby compared to it.. But eith a price tag of 2k.. Ouch you go ahead and get in the boat with that other guy Rating, Handling, and USING a given wattage are all different things. So any info gathered from the OP's question isnt very useful except to say "Wow, they rate it that high." thank you ed No it's one subwoofer, he hit a 181 with a mammoth sub that cost the company 40000 to make. Huge 430lbs sub seriously give it up Lol I'm just gonna shut up and let you guys take over xD your best post to date THERE IS NO BUILD LOG! 1998 Chevy Silverado ext cab Alpine CDA-9887 4 Team Fi 15s 2 Ampere Audio TFE 8.0 2 Ampere Audio 150.4 3 Digital Designs CS6.5 component sets Dual Mechman 370XP Elite alternators inbound! 8 XS Power d3400 6 XS power d680 Second Skin Stinger Tsunami Wiring Sky High A Real Voltmeter not a piece of shit stinger.
