Fish Chris
So, using the DD 1, you get your amp gains all set perfectly, and you learn the max your deck can put out without distorting.... But still, if you go to cranking up on your bass controls (either at the deck, or seperate bass control knob) it is still possible to overdrive your speakers / distort, right ? So, is this where the VU1 would come into effect ? Or to put it another way, everything is set correctly.... but then you get carried away with the bass controls, would the VU1 show you when you start to eff up ? Just curious, Fish

Just curious, Fish if everything is set to its max clean level with the DD-1, and you for example, turn the bass up more on the H/u, yes it will start to distort/ clip what is the VU1? 2014 Chevy Silverado Crewcab 1994 Chevy Full Size blazer
armykyle1
X2 on what he said. As long you operate inside the the setting in which you set everything with the DD-1 you'll be fine. If you're using a bass knob it should been full tilt when setting the gains. Or if you use an lc-1 (rca plugged into the DD-1) or similar full tilt then turn your HU up to the point of clipping. Then set your gains. VU1 is the VU meter Tony D is working on. Its on his site. Pretty trick piece. If you calibrate it using the DD1, you'll be able to tell when you drive into distortion. meade916
Like i was tellin you fish, if you adjust your bass/treble a little bit, it probably wont hurt anything. If you PEG your bass up to +15, it will probably introduce some distortion. also, the indicators on your amp look very nice and put on a spectacular show.......but other then that, i wouldnt worry about them. Those aren't distortion or clipping indicators. All SMD products + MORE available at my store here! https://wccaraudio.com/ Subscribe to My Youtube Channel! Over 1,000,000 subscribers strong!
