placement of ports in a box

Recommended Posts

No all subs should react the same as long as you dont wire them up wrong or their out of phase. What are the dimensions of the box and port?

Btw my all my ports are on one side of the box.:)

That's the reason why people put 'loading walls' in their boxes. A simple board just behind the sub closest to the internal port opening can help direct the pressure so it's more evenly spread out between the subs. However, there needs to be enough room between the port opening and the loading wall so that the wall will not effect the box's tuning.

alright that makes sense. so for this loading wall when you say behind the sub do you mean behind the motor? how do i determine which side is behind the sub? also how do you determine what is too close to the internal port? how do you know if one of the subs is unloading will it be moving more than the other? when designing a box is there any key give aways to determine if there will be any unloading issues? sorry for all the questions just trying to expand my understanding of enclosure designs
