STScolorado Posted October 2, 2011 Report Share Posted October 2, 2011 i am going to build a new setup and rite now im running 7 of the 16v kinetiks i have already upgraded my alt. with ext. reg. my setup now is only for spl but my new one i want to street beat. what is the best for street beat 12v 14v or 16v? i have been looking at the xs power 14volt batteries just don't know if i should keep my 16v kinetiks and run off the 12v post for street beat or look into the xs power 14v Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

tonedeaf Posted October 2, 2011 Report Share Posted October 2, 2011 Woody, kinetic has the 12v post, not xs. With xs batteries, you'd had to run step-downs. Here's the issue though, the higher you go up in voltage (from 14 to 18v I.e.) the less capacity batteries will have. Like the xs d3109 is good for around 5k watts of power, whereas I believe their 16v d1600 is only around 2500. One alt is the limiting factor and the more and more power you add the more batteries you will need. Remember, although you're charging at around 18.8v, 3 or 4 volts of drop is still just as bad as 3 or 4 volts of drop at 12. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Rainman215 Posted October 2, 2011 Report Share Posted October 2, 2011 Wouldn't the drop In theb12v setup be worst because your dropping to 11 or so where as with the 16v would drop to about 15-16v or so in your example.
