rgriffin83 Posted October 9, 2011 Report Share Posted October 9, 2011 Ok, so I know this is gonna sound CRAZY to anyone that actually has any idea at all about car audio but, I am installing 1 12" FI BTL on an audioque 2200d amp. I am doing the big 3 with all 0 ga wiring, 1 kinetik 1800 as my main battery and 1 2400 for my sub... I told a friend this and he told me to "just use a power cap and 4 ga wire would be fine"! For a BTL!!! Am I crazy or am I right in thinking he is? I know power caps are basically uselees now days with the batteries you can get and 4 ga power and ground for a 2200k watt rms amp and a 2k watt FI BTL? Any opinions on this issue from the true car audio people? RooTxBeeR Posted October 10, 2011 Report Share Posted October 10, 2011 All caps do is hold some power like a battery does, but they drain a lot faster, then once they are drained, the Alt has to try and fill back up the lost power from the Cap and the batt.
