Measuring power by Clamping

Recommended Posts

At last competition i went to, my saz2500 was clamped at 1800 wrms at 2.1 ohm rise. Does it mean it put's out more or less? After reading this topic, you said it's way off, but off as more or less?

P.S. My dad knows all this stuff, for he got 2 master degrees in this field, but doesn't have proper equipment, nor he plans to buy it.

When you say non-inductive, are you saying purely resistive?

Whats does CEA do? I thought it was better when you where getting CEA 2005 compliant testing?

CEA was formed to help consumers know what they are getting, and to help companies that have legit ratings compete in the industry. It was and still is a great idea IMHO. Unfortunately, for the consumer, being a member of CEA and adhering to their testing and rating standards is strictly voluntary. If you are a manufacturer that overrates your product why would you want to join CEA and adhere to their testing standards?

Perfect. In our opinion CEA2006 has a little defect for allowing manufacturers rate at 14.4V, that is an obvious HU companies lobby.

I would assume then you guys are going to try and create a new standard?

Just looks like they (Tony and affiliates) are trying to design/have already designed a product that will test an amplifier's TRUE RMS output. These sort of devices already exist, however they are extremely expensive. The AD-1 looks like it will do the same job at a much affordable price. It'll still be expensive, easily a few hundred and very possibly over a thousand, but for competitors/shops who need accurate measurements and don't have access to the $10K+ equipment that exists, this will do the same on a much smaller budget.

wtf is lolcats?

I'd def get a fat hooker if i had to resort to that kinda thing. I feel like they'd be grateful and work harder. Also its more bang for my buck, more real estate for my dollar if you catch my drift. its like the Costco of streetwalkers.

I was hoping for 150 :(.

I was hoping she would let me put it in her butt

Yeah I think the AD-1 is going to be maketed more towards the companies rather than the consumers. I'm sure it will be alot less than what's currently being used to measure the true RMS on amplifiers.Which will make it the better choice for companies that need this type of equipment.Me personally,I probably would never have a reason to use one of these because I don't sell car audio equipment. For the normal car audio bassheads like me we wont be the ones this will be marketed to.Reason being is that I can see something like this going for well over $1000 and who's going to pay that much for a product that they will rarely use and won't be making money off of.So in the end its really not worth it for the general pop.I will say that with this on the market you will see an increase in the prices on equipment that has been tested and proven on the AD-1 but you will be getting exactly what your paying for.Which is what us consumers have been thinking we were getting all these years.

I can do exactly what this ad-1 is doing with my fluke current clamp and dmm and dual probe oscope. And when I say exactly, I mean exactly. So what do you think audio companies are doing to get a rating on a bench? Lol

do you think you could make a video demonstarting this..im just curious as to what the process would look like
