The Big Oki
Hi,this is about my "Ü2X" car what was built in 2004 togetherwith a full sponsoring programme with Sony Germany. That was a really great time we hadtogether and I will never forget ! I was able to become 2 times world champ in dB Drag Pointsand set 2 all time high records in 2004 and 2005 with 701 and 801(825) points. Also I made 250 competitions in two years ! Made countless demos, shook the girls, made Deathmatch and had a high score of 155,1 dB. Guess what, ALL WITH SONY X PLOD Equipment !I had, now listen, one lousy Subwoofer dying during all that time ! Reason was a disconnected remote of an amp what shut down and so the damaged sub was "driven" by the 11 others and so the aluminum cone broke after a few seconds. Not really the fault of the sub... Watch my videos and see that I never held something back, I always gave full power !Im 2004 I brought it together with my TERROR car to the world finals. Never ever somebodywas so stupid to bring two cars over the sea. Hehehe And I didnt took the last place at the dB Drag World finals with it... The name Ü2X was choosen because the building was in my Ü2 "Style". So the new caris the "new Ü2" and X is standing for "Xploded". Ü2XPloded ( I always choose crazy nameswith meanings for my cars). It was built form the ground with the same system.Even the measurements of the box are similar to the Ü2 car. So the building was great, and itwas equipped with completely Sony stuff. After the 2 years the Sponsoring endet, unfortunately.(Not because of my fault, it was decision from above and they cut a lot of jobs also). Then I changed the Amps to my loved Zapco 4KWs and put some CV VMAX in.Also the front system and some more stuff was replaced by Zapco. And you see 2dB moreout of it and a harder Bass. I drove whole 2006 season with it (had a lot of trouble with the car itself, engine died and so on). Now I try to put in Atomic AP subs and gain even more. The Bandpass was designed to use these different speakers.Sometimes you see raw wood in my cars. Its not bc I am lazy, no, I LIKE that look of the wood ! Its Plywood and it looks really good. But I had that a long time, and I still have, so I decided to use some paint then sometimes. Here also : No extra drilled holes or removed panels ! No action to the car was made.I comepted also in EMMA and AYA Sound Quality Competitions and the sound was a blast !One step better than my old Ü2, except for the low bass (Strokers were missed).I won some titles with it (Euro Champ Bass Race, german Champ EMMA ESPL 5 times, and so on).The car still sits here and is ready to rumble, just switch it on...Here are some pics and you can see more on that galerie:http://www.dbdrag.de/~oki/okicars/okicars/okicars.htmlAnd here, if you want and I have time, I may answer some q´s about that car.Feel free to ask. Forevrbumpn
thats one nice ride Oki I have a ritual called "terminator". I crouch in the shower in the "naked terminator" pose. With eyes closed I crouch for a minute and visualize either Arnie or the guy from the 2nd movie. I then start to hum the T2 theme. Slowly I rise to a standing position and open my eyes. It helps me get through my day. The only problem is if the shower curtain sticks to my terminator leg. It sorta ruins the fantasy.
 36 8.2k
The Big Oki
sony hair tricks?? i never thought i'd see that. bad ass Still hear people talking bad about the Sonys. But never "Xloped" them really in so much heavy duty competition... These people never managed it to do a hair trick with their cars, or even reach my numbers...So... I didnt change the subs "randomly". It was the plan to use the cheap red ones in the beginning, with 6 amps, and then 12 silver ones with 12 amps later. I calculated the bandpass for several speakers. Sure, the frequency responses are a little different from speaker to speaker, but I calculated that also. I personally think it looked the best with the CV VMAX in it. (Blue light pic). I still have the light to see the VMAX not just in blue. Can switch between the light colors. If I will put in Atomic APs, I think I can add 1-2 dB and a better performance. Lets see what I can do... Üüüühh!!! Michael www.SQPL.de Rulez! mazdawg
Hi Oki and a Happy new year to you!! I have a few questions to ask you as im a big fan of tunneled and bandpass systems I noticed in a couple of your installs you have built 4th order bandpass with the rear chambers or the low frequency chamber been ver y small does this limit your frequency response or is your goal to have high spl in the mid 40hz?. Have you aslo built any 6th order series tunned bandpass and what do you think or these enclosures?? Loving your craftmanship A1 buddy. The Big Oki
Wow! A Lonesome visitor here LOL. thanks for the words. 6th orders are my favourite ones, but not every speaker plays well in em. (You see some of em in my 3D plannings (Big Bang for example) and Ü2 projects, even 7th order) Usually I do this with good old Cerwin Vega Strokers (still the best). The other "tricks" are individual also. My goal is a wide bandwith of similar pressure, no real peaks. No matter what speaker is in. The chamber size depends also on woofer amount and so on. But I dont use formulas, I use formulas in the beginning and add my almost 20 year experience of building systems But I did Bandpasses with peaks also and won some champion ships with em. yea, Bandpass is my favourite thing, especially for listenung.... Thanks for your knowledge oki, your latast project in the vw as this got a flat response or does it tail off below 30hz? the only reason i ask weather the size on your front chamber as a big effect on your f3 point ?
