I´ve gained 1.5 db by x3 the power before, so those 3 dbs by doubling the power isn´t a rule at all :drinks:

well its not just power, in order to gain 3 db i believe its double power along with double the output source (2nd of the same woofer) so for example if you have 1 15 on 2000 watts in order to gain 3 db you need to add another of the same 15 in the same type of box with the same power effectively doubling your output source adding 3 db to your total output.

R.I.P '01 blazer you treated my ears well until your transmission blew up.

Simple question....

I read somewhere on here that every 10dbs is twice as loud acoustically..

and twice as loud with 3dbs to the ear? or something i know this is wrong....

But what is it?

with 4 12's we got a 149-150 from less then 3k then a 152.2 from 9k.

yet with 2 15s in slightly diffren't box the 3k did a 142 then 9k did 153.4

then with 1 15 3k and 9k was only 1db diff, don't remember scores tho..

yeh teammate loves building 100's of boxes 2 days before a comp and we try build a wall in under 2 days, still got a 152 lol our first wall

so i suppose every box diff lol

AUSTRALIA do i need say more?

If I may ask a question about this subject. I'll be going from 500 watts to 2000 watts. From 4 to 8 12" subs. I am not at all sure what the gain would be on that application.

Theoretically,

With doubling your power from 500W to 1000W, you get +3dB.

Doubling again to 2000W gives another +3dB.

Doubling your cone area, another +3dB.

Total = +9dB.

There are MANY other factors that play into this as well. Box type, box size, cabin gain, EQ settings, etc...
