Team Sundown's Charles
I know if this should be in this section of the amp section. But here is the question. I have 2 18 and will I have less rise if I use 2 samller amp instead of 1 large amp. I can wire the two small amps @ .5 or I can wire the large amp @.25(before anyone starts I have the elec to run it that way & have been running like that for about a year). My old setup when I wire @.25 I had rise to 2.7-3.0. That was with 4 12's. Some one told me that was because I had alot of subs on 1 amp in a small box. He went on to say that dividing the load between 2 amps and increasing the box size would reduce my rise. Is this true? Or can someone put me on the right track to design a box that won't have so much rise? 1993 Mazda Mx-3 Subs: 2 18" DC Audio Lvl 4 D.7 Highs amp: Sundown SAX-100.4 Sub amp: Sundown SAZ-3000D Electrical:Kinetik 1200 under hood, 2-Kinetik 2400 rear All 1/0 KnuKonceptz Wire Power/Ground, Big 3, 8Ga Speaker Wire, KnuKonceptz Karma RCA's Dampening: 120sqft 80Mil Thick Sound Destroyer Mat Goal: 150 DB 149.9 Street Bass

STEvil
what subs, what enclosure, what amp choices? MickyMcD - "Capable of making some serious trouser flapping volumes at where's-my-testicles frequencies, the Servo-Drives used to be fairly jaw dropping..." Any time you have have a power wire next to your frame put some rubber hosing (or cut up an innertube) around it. The wire is bound to wiggle (due to driving or flex) and the casing will eventually wear through. Hammerdown... 1% no links to outside websites, business related FB/YT pages allowed. AA98hoe
Same impediance if you strap 2 or run 1... .25 as far as rise goes it should be the same. I was taught smaller box less rise.. larger box more rise.. then you have motor force, output wattage to sub etc.. EdgarG0721
How do ur amps handle .25? Have you clamped them watt?
Team Sundown's Charles
it handles it fine. doesn't even get hot. last time it was clamped it was wired to .25 rise was like 2ohms and it did 2900 and some change. I always ran it that way for shows and after one show I for got to rewire it back. And didn't know for about 2 weeks when I went to another show. So i kept it that way. been like that almost a year. 1993 Mazda Mx-3 Subs: 2 18" DC Audio Lvl 4 D.7 Highs amp: Sundown SAX-100.4 Sub amp: Sundown SAZ-3000D Electrical:Kinetik 1200 under hood, 2-Kinetik 2400 rear All 1/0 KnuKonceptz Wire Power/Ground, Big 3, 8Ga Speaker Wire, KnuKonceptz Karma RCA's Dampening: 120sqft 80Mil Thick Sound Destroyer Mat Goal: 150 DB 149.9 Street Bass
BFF Larry
Good question I'm along for the lesson. x2 I'm wanting to know the same. I've read people saying smaller boxes equal less rise but at the same time, people say larger box equals less rise... And I'm like WTf? And I'm sorry to threadjack, but could running speaker wires directly from sub to amp and nothing in between lower rise?
