bracing and port corners

Recommended Posts

yes. they take up a small amount of volume and thusly make your tuning higher

does bracing inside the box with dowels and putting a 45 degree corner in you port affect the tuning of the box?

dowels do, but barely noticeable.

45 at the port wall does affect tuning.

I would like to know this also....How much does it affect with 45's at the port wall....what if I bend the port wall at a 45 also...will it still affect or no?

These are things you would have to test.

my port is 3.5" wide. and from the corner of the L to the corner of the box its 5". but with a 1"x1" 45 degree angle it makes it 4.25". will it affect it alot? its just a small corner

Ideally you would want to keep the port 3.5", even at the bend. Just cut a longer 45.

45 at the port wall does affect tuning.

how so? port displacement is already taken out of the gross volume of the box, so adding a 45 in the port does not remove anything extra from the gross volume.

but isn't it still taking area away from the port thus changing tuning bc the port area would be different than when figured?
