Torres
i'm confused how the more expensive 200% coverage of peel n seal which is barely on par with the cheaper 25% coverage of CLD is still even considered a contender? hell i'd pay more just to use the CLD to cover that much less. deadening can become a tedious job after a while. Colin - STAPUFT
Great Test! If anyone still goes with peel and seal after this (not that I haven't used it), they can't say that they didn't know what they were getting. Second Skin Rep Jon
Ok, went out and did the 100% CLD test as request. The fun part was removing the two layers of the U-Seal. I'll give credit to this product for being sticky as hell in 75° temps. So I got it all cleaned off and applied 1 sq. ft. of the CLD product onto the testing area. I had to be creative and cut up multiple sheets to make sure there wasn't any logos, printed things, or any tell-tale signs as to what product I am using. Three runs, taking the average, and here are the results. The 100% CLD applied over the 100% U-Seal U-Seal = BLUE CLD = GREEN Now the 100% U-Seal applied over the 100% CLD U-Seal = RED CLD = BLUE Now 100% U-Seal with 25% CLD and 100% CLD: The interesting part that I noticed is that at around the 27 second mark the U-Seal does better. Here is a zoomed in section from about 26.70 seconds to 30.40 seconds. Interesting hu? So there you go more data to chew on. Final conclusion Sure with 100% coverage you do achieve even better results. However in some cases it's not that much, if any, better than 25% coverage. Quote Have a question about Second Skin? Watch the bass
Did this last test mean, that i get a good sounddeadening with a batch of 12x12 inch on my door, or a vew pieces on diffrent place in this size at my door. And a reasonabl better deadening if i cover the complete door. And the "better" is in the near/range of the test? Nine8SST
I spy a homemade CNC. I wussed out and bought it (K2 CNC)... Good machine in the K2! I built a 4'x4' 80/20 mchine several years ago, but I had access to a 5'x10' Mastercam at the time, so building the gantry parts was pretty convenient. I sold it last year to cover my daughter's surgery and I miss it, but I figure I'll build a full size one eventually!
