I'll be running 4 in a ported wall w/ 1 SD5k's on each pair (6400w @ 14.4). Would the spaced spider be needed in my application? Like 4000w to 1 sub.. No bro, the reason is for increased reliability. Subs get a rating for a reason. I think sometimes people actually forget just how much power 1000RMS really is. The higher power you push the higher chance that some small variation can happen and break things. Coils rock in the shaft when splaying various Freq and this added spider help control things. Example...ur on a bus downtown and go about without holding the rails. Now grab the rail and see how stable you are all of a sudden. That is because you have control on the top and the bottom. Hope this helps some what. In theory this is a great idea and I have actually though about doing this before but we are yet to see reviews and such. Every one have high hopes for this sub, guess only time will tell. Loudness is no substitute for musicianship, and partial deafness is no badge of honor. I was once able to hear this advice. I ordered my 18" sp4 25 days ago and I check the UPS tracking every day and it still says it hasn't shipped, also I emailed them and they haven't got back to me yet, are they closed for a week or something?
