Recommended Posts

I hate to sound like a noob...but what is a refoam? Are we talking about the surround or a recone? Never heard refoam....enlighten me please?

Current system:Front stage: Alpine type s 6.5No rear:Alpine type s 6.5headunit: alpineAmp: Jbl bp600.1

Sub: Alpine type x 12

dont know much about them. Found a "FLUX" Capacitor on ebay. If I add this to my system, can I really travel into the future? And how far into the future? That probably all depends on how I ground it though, right?

Dude dont even waste your money on capacitors get a second car battery preferably a kinetik or stinger or any other car audio battery use the battery that is correct for your systems true rms wattage do some research on the net for this. Go to kinetiks website they explain how to pick a battery from thier site that fits your system.

I have no clue what it is either but I think it's the surround(made of foam) that's at least what I based my comment above off of.

To make sure you center it correctly, you'll need to remove the dust cap. Then shim the voice coil and measure the gap on all sides to make sure its centered.

has nothing to do with measuring the gap on all sides. The voice coil is stock jl coil and is not removed or replaced no need to measure.

OP here is a video of a woofer I built up. someplace in there you will see how you shime the voice coil. may have to skip around a bit.

you can refoam any woofer if need be. Finding the right surround to fit it maybe a challenge if the company does not sell them separately.

even if you goto http://www.parts-express.com , they make refoam kits for a wide range of drivers and speakers. Not all the top of the line stuff, but they do make them.

Usually tho, your better off just done a complete recone, then going thru this hassle.
