ALPINE408
why do you need an extra spider? tunning can be whatever you want what kind of music do you lisen to? the extra spider will raise the fs and make the sub stiffer you usally need more power to move more spiders Quote Have you ever had your woofers blown? ChevyBoy95
i am seriously considering buying a dc xl 18 as soon as i can get the funds.. my question is how would having an extra spider affect the sub and what is the recommended tuning at 6 cubic foot extra spider will stiffen suspension which reduces the chance of reaching mechanical limits (essentially it can take little more power depending on the spider pack you get). Tuning should (speculation because i havent used XLs) probably be 32-35hz with 110 sqin of port. (i have only used the 5s and 4s so ill let someone who uses the XL tell you what is concrete with them). bassahaulic
WE did 2 18"s in 18^3 tuned to 40Hz and still peaks in the low 30's. XL's are great.
CJ18
They got very loud and low with only 1500w clamped each. 30-33hz would be a good tuning with 15in2 of port per 1ft3.
