carshateme
Okay, I bought a 220 amp alternator from ebay for a 1995 buick skylark 3.1L....biggest mistake of my life...I'm sure they sold me a faulty alternator. It works fine and supplies the power I need when I'm giving my car gas...but when I'm at idle, it dims the lights and my heater dies down in fan speed. I tried upgrading the cable to 1/0 welding wire...I gotta try re grounding the alternator to see if that's the issue....but if it isn't, I'm going to have to purchase another one...because I can't have my alternator dying on me...so I was looking up some different alternator..and I found one from DB electrical for $207 for 200 amps.. http://www.db-starter-alternator.com/p-4410-skylark-high-output-alternator-88-89-90-91-92-93-94-95-7860-11.aspx Just wanted to know if they're worth trusting...considering I probably already got ripped off once. onebadmonte
If I were you I'd step up to a GM AD244 alternator. Those small case GM alts aren't gonna cut it for high amp applications. Lbox88
HO CS130 = been going through this a lot the last 2 weeks where people are getting alts from crap companies/ebay. Do yourself a favor and get a stock one for now and save up to upgrade to a singer/mechman/DC Power/ohio gen or do it right and get one from them as soon as possible. And buy direct, don't go through some other site saying they're selling a DC power alt. Quote UBL | Build Log

EBW
All the good HO alts come with a smaller (under drive) pully which spin the alt faster at lower rpms, Their cheap and they work. No... no they don't. Shitty alts like powerbastards use under drive pulleys and incorrect idle speeds and bad parts to get their values. https://www.dcpowerinc.com/dc-power-vs-competition Quote UBL | Build Log
