Chassis to engine wire

Recommended Posts

Big three is where you upgrade the positive from bat to alt, and bat - to chassis, and chassis to engine. Someone was trying to tell me I didn't need to upgrade the chassis to engine wire as long as I always grounded to the chassis, and all I had to say was, "I read it on the internet". What purpose does upgrading this wire serve?

I believe it is engine to battery. That's what I did.

I agree with the poster above and I would say a circuit is only as strong as it's weakest link.

But I still dont get It, how does a ground to the engine help? You ground stuff to the chassis anyway.

Correct. Everything grounds to the frame/chassis. There is no need for a ground from the engine to the frame...there are huge bolts that ground the engine to the frame...thus making another wire from engine to frame basically useless (but not totally, like I said less resistance). Upgrade the engine ground to the battery, and then the frame to battery. Problem solved.

Someone will correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the engine to bat is important cause that is essentially the ground for the alternator. The better the ground there, the better the charging system performs and the less chance of alternator whine caused from a ground loop.

ur right & you can never have to many grounds....... basic big there is alt to + bat - from alt or engine to batt.- batt to body & frame ....also it helps the alt give power with less resistance witch will make the alt last longe and your amps run cool and make more power
