Difference between 2 10's and 2 12's.

Recommended Posts

I think I decided that i'm either getting fi BL's, either 2 10s or 2 12s. I like how little of space the 10s take up, but I know that 2 12s are louder. The question is how much lowder are they? I know you can't really explain it and I should listen to them in person, but I can't do that. The main thing is I like to feel the bass like when you can feel it in your hair that kind of bass. How much better would the 12s be then the 10s. Please try to help me.

2,000 watts are going to the subs (together)

Thanks

theres absolutely no gaurantee the 12's will get louder than the 10's...far too many variables to take into account to say that..

This isn't teeball. YOU DO NOT GET A TROPHY JUST BECAUSE YOU SHOW UP. Put the work in and then maybe get the respect when it has been earned

10's can be (and are in alot of cases) LOUDer (not lowd lol) than 12's.

That being said the only real difference between the two is the amount of cone area.

2 10's has a cone area of 157.08, and 2 12's has a cone area of 226.19

Now that being said, more cone area is (generally) louder on the same amount of power.

Soooo basically it will all depend on what kind of power you are running and the vehicle as well as the type of enclosure you decide to put them in.

Like I said, you can get just as loud if not louder with 2 10's as you can 12's

Well my other option was to get a single 15" bl. Would the 10s be as loud as that?

Like what? (I'm new at this stuff.) The 12s have more cone area that's why I said they would be louder

in theory yes they would be louder but its application specific on the box and vehicle..like said by rickdod 2 10's can get just as loud in the right application as 2 12's

Well for instance if the car you installing in doesn't have the room for the proper enclosure the 12's require, then te 10's potentially will get louder than the 12's. Also the 10's cone is less mass (doesn't weigh as much as) the 12's so theoretically it takes more motor force to move the 12's cone then it would the 10's.
