I am looking at getting the soundstream REFERENCE R1 SERIES subs. But, all the info says that the subs are 4 ohms. Nothing about 2 ohm. Are they 2 ohm stable???? If not. What is another sub that would be a good choice??? My kicker dcvr are nice. But, I have heard these subs and with less power then what I am running now. Hit a lot harder. But, would like to have the subs ran at 2 ohms. Any suggestions?? Plus I am going to be building my first sub box. Any suggestions to size and port design/size and all that???

it depends on your amp...what amp do you have?

subs arent stable at any ohm they can be wired to anything you get them to depending on the ohm of the subs. amps are normally 1 or 2 ohm stable. you need to find that out first before you buy any sub

KENWOOD Kenwood KAC-9105D 1-Channel 1800 watts Class D Monoblock Performance Series Car Amplifier. I am running it at 2 ohms now. I know that it can run at 1 ohm. But, my rockford fosgate power 2's blew running at 2 ohm. They was only 4 ohm subs. I thought any sub could run at 2 ohms. But, told other wise.

even professionally set up they blew. I work at a shop that installs them. What I do and still learning on. And they did not clip. They sounded good till they blew and rockford fosgate told me they do not handle 2 ohms. SHocked they replaced them. When put to 4 ohms they work fine. And in the saturn ion redline that they are now in since I sold them. Sound nice.

lol. Well I wanted to make sure that I was doing it right. Thinking maybe I had a wire on wrong or something. But, I had it set-up right. And professional was just the shop I work at.

There is much fail here. A sub is not stable at a given ohm load. The different ohm loads are simply so that consumers can reschedule their desired nominal ohm loads for desired amplifier output based on coil configuration, number of woofers, and amplifier channels.

I'm going to assume the subs blew because you guys were in fact clipping. You can not say you weren't, because they sounded good. Your amplifier is a max rated amp and I'm assuming coil configuration was not taken into consideration, wired incorrectly, and gain adjusted too high to compensate.

Also, subs on lower power hitting harder can depend on many different things. Actual output of amplifier, enclosure, vehicle, tuning, and so forth.

The same amp is being used now in the saturn as they was set up with in my car. Just the subs are not wired at 2 ohms. And the amp was tuned right. And we was not clipping. Could not be wired incorrectly or my kickers would blow. My kickers was wired the same way as the rockford fosgates. I looked at how I did my kickers to wire the rockfords. and coil config was takin into consideration. The shop used the smd tuner tool and all that. The gain was barely on. The amp was barely half way on. Same set-up as how my kicker dcvr 12"s pretty much. Just 1 amp and not 2 like now. And after a few people messaging me. It is a problem with people running 2 ohms to those subs. But, at 4 ohms they run fine.

Now my crew Im in have soundstream and dc and kickers and skars. Lower rated power then my kickers but hit harder. And my crew is all 2000 to 2003 ford focus.. So beside the hatch backs. We all have the same trunk space. Right now I have the kicker box that comes with the dcvr 12"s and I added the same size port to the opposite side. A little bit higher score... I asked a question and not one answer. Hoping to get some tips on box build and comments on the subs... Hoping for more help on here....
