Nivram Posted January 9, 2012 Report Posted January 9, 2012 Hello all, Im New to the forum, my current set up is just 2 15" aw152T Audiobahn Rated 650rms 1300Max. Ive got El cheapo amps one is a boss 1100watt max, the other is a soundstorm 1000watt max . I have a sealed box and it sound pretty good. I would like to upgrade My amp Because i know that I am under powering the subs I would also like to build a new box. I attempted to pvc port the sealed box but the subs seemed to not hit as hard and wasnt any louder than before so i simply fliped the box so it was laying on top of the ports so once again the box would be somewhat sealed. Either way i just want to be able to flex the exterior of my car. I have a 2002 buick century. Any tips on box design? Are always welcome!! I Just want to be Really loud!! I can put out a bic lighter flame as is but i want soo much more. would I need 2 more 15"s to flex my windshield? SS4Luck Posted January 9, 2012 Report Posted January 9, 2012 Welcome to the forums but you have a lot to learn. I suggest reading threads and learning as much as you can before trying to re do your system. A properly build ported box will be much louder than a sealed box, but there is a lot more to it than just cutting hole and throwing in some PVC pipe. My 2 12s right now flex my winshield a little, so you just need to learn how to get everything working better together and you can do that. lol or you can just start hooking shit up together and blow up speakers and your amp
kirill007 Posted January 9, 2012 Report Posted January 9, 2012 You can't just port a sealed box. The sealed box is too small to port. How long was the PVC port? what was the diameter? Thinking is the root of all problems... You ALWAYS get what you pay for.

Get one good amp and make a good box. --2004 Toyota 4runner New Build Log -2002 Acura Tl-S Old Build Log Team DC Audio spl dust is an option you can get on the coils... it's great for extra 1000 watts of power where can i get this spl dust and how much is it. is it hard to apply? lol

Plenty of people on here can make you a design and give you a cut sheet. subwoofers - two eclipse 88120s box - 3.4 cubes tuned to 32 hz amps - aq1200 and pheonix gold zx450 New build : 2 obsidian audio 15s same amp 6.1 cubic foot box tuned to 32 hz in a civic hatch
Nivram Posted January 9, 2012 Author Report Posted January 9, 2012 My pvc diameter is 4in and 10in long there are 2 ports the box is fairly big im not sure of the spec because i didnt build it. There is a divider in the sub box so each 15 has its own chamber. I didnt know that 2 mix matched amps would matter but all i had was the 1000watt soundstorm i had pushing my 10in type r and when i bought the 15's the guy gave me this 1100 walmart amp so i figured why not run both. I have 4ga wires. What amp would you guys recommend? I would like to build a ported box. size is no issue I have a huge trunk to play with. I had my 10in type r in a 6th order and it banged just as hard as one of the 15's so im sure i could get louder with a good box. Should i buy 2 more audiobahn 15's ? I know they arnt the best subs but they are 100 bux a pair. 14dbass Posted January 9, 2012 Report Posted January 9, 2012 Get a good amp before you add more subs and we need some sort of dimensions. Or is 40" tall ok? Edit: Two mix matched amps is bad because they are putting out different amounts of power plain and simple.
