its a larger cost than bats. 2000+ I can tell you that. if you are seriously interested pm me. I have a few laying around lol.

but the extra cost is justified by

1. Weight, 8 banks with connecting hardware weighs about same or a little less than 1 d3100 approx 70 pounds or less. (my hardware is beefier than the average bear, but was all engineered for appropriate load)

2. Life, each cap is rated for 10 years or 1 million cycles from full to 0v. batteries last around 4 years on average with our harsh high draw conditions. So you will be buying approx 2.5 battery banks per single bank of caps. the caps will also have near same performance most of their life where as batteries performance might degrade quicker.

3. Voltage, you will hold a higher average voltage with these. also be able to supply more amperage at any given time than any number of batteries.

4. size, my bank will be able to supply 10k no problem. with it being the size of a little over 2 d3100s.

5. MAINTENANCE FREE, no more charging them on the weekends or at shows. no more hauling around a generator to charge your bats. no more worrying about too high or too low voltage. the caps work for you, you don't work for the caps and tend to any need like with batteries.

only negatives I can see.

1. You cant play with the car off for long. Currently I have played my highs at a little over half volume for 30 minutes no issue (13.9 volts down to 12.9 volts). you wont be able to play full tilt car off with sub amps but you cna play pretty loud. and once voltage drops turn car on for a minute and you are good to go again.

2. cost which is justified above.

Oh i know. I am almost done with my bachlors in Electrical Engineering from U of M. needless to say between my labs and own personal testing, i know what these things can do shorted reversely polarized and inside and out lol. testing is half the fun.

but yea gotta be careful with these.
