Forget the separate caps, you should produce the whole bank and sell it as a drop in!

*WHEN* I get some caps I plan on keeping all batteries in as well as I read that a combo of both is best. Curious if 1-2 banks of caps with 10 batteries is a waste of time even having the caps? Will the caps work too hard then because they aren't enough to support the wattage (even though the batteries can)??

Right, it would be just like if you never pulled more than your alt made. youd never see the bats come into play.

like anything else, the amount of caps you have needs to be sized properply to the system. i recommend 2 banks at a minimum for every 5k. 3 banks would be ideal. but 2 will work.

they dont get hot unless you have too little and you are trying to pull tons of current for too long.

i plan for each bank to supply no more than 200A continous for times. if you look at their data sheet, per given temperature it shows how many amps they can provide and at what temp they will operate at during that demand. i believe it was something like 200A per at 100 degrees farenheit. or something like that.

if you had 2 banks all it would do is absorb peaks. you wouldnt hold voltage on 10k lets say. and until you drop to bat resting those 10 bats are dead weight and taking on average 10A EAch to charge. so thats 100A that is not going to your system.

and there really are a lot of failed copies
