Guest Posted January 13, 2012 Report Posted January 13, 2012 You wanna be heard from "miles away", without flex? arent higher tuned boxes louder and not as low so they create less flex but make the subs sound louder the higher the tuning, the more efficient it is (i think). this also causes low end to be lost, but high end is gained. you're going to flex regardless of the tuning you choose.

mlstrass Posted January 14, 2012 Report Posted January 14, 2012 what music do you mostly listen to, if it's low ass C&S stuff I'd definitely tune around 30hz. Otherwise 32-35Hz should work well. Low stuff "sounds" louder to the ear, but won't meter well unless you have a lot of cone area and power. 2 12's won't be heard from miles away unless you mount the box on the roof

Don't quote me on this for sure, but there was a thread a few weeks ago where a more experienced member said that more port area sounds peakier and smaller port area sounds flatter. Would honestly like some more input as to whether or not this is correct also! Build in progress
