badasschevy Posted January 19, 2012 Report Posted January 19, 2012 i've got a tricky one for you, center consloe in my 98 chevy. i have 17"h x 14"w x 40. it will be (1) level 4 12,powered by a dc 2k. i've got some ideas, its just the tuning, and port area i'm trying to figure out. something like this. center console: lvl 4 12 1.75 cu ft tuned 37htz alpine cda-9886 dc audio 120.4 infinity kappa 6.5" components
Sergeant_Skyrim Posted January 19, 2012 Report Posted January 19, 2012 I was actually interested in a 4th order for 2 DC Level 4 12s on the 2.0k watt amp. Would be trying to get it all fit into the trunk of my 03 Cavalier with the amp screwed into the back of my right side rear seat (perfect fit). My maximum dimensions are 16H x 34.5W x 24D I read through this thread a bit and noticed that somebody said the lower the ratio the more musical...so a 1.5:1 instead of 2:1 wouldn't be too much quieter would it? As for the tuning part...how does 53Hz sound? I did notice that Box #5 isn't very different from what I'm asking, but would you be able to have both subs in the same sealed chamber? And if not is there any reason why they shouldn't be? I'm asking because I prefer DIY over having somebody else do it (learning experiences ftw) Build in progress

I'm asking because I prefer DIY over having somebody else do it (learning experiences ftw) you can have both subs in the same chamber, but if you have them directly firing at the port, you might have loading issues. that's the only reason i angled it like that. 412 CVX Posted January 19, 2012 Author Report Posted January 19, 2012 it helps, thanks. 2 cu ft ported and 1 sealed? yup. like i said, all measurements should be in the sketchup design. I understand that my request wasn't much different than #5, but would you mind trying to work something out then using these dimensions: 16H x 34W x however deep it needs to be. I tried sketching this up on paper and I'm pretty sure it'll fit using 16x34 with my maximum depth of 27, but I'm looking to go with the 16x34 for sure. If you could also do a 1.5:1 ratio that'd be great with a tuning of 53Hz. And my last request is just a simple question...if you tune it to 53Hz, that means that's the upper cutoff correct? If so, then how do you calculate for the lower cutoff or will that just be the resonant frequency of the subwoofer that you're using? Thanks for all the help/knowledge so far man Build in progress
OldsBoomer Posted January 19, 2012 Report Posted January 19, 2012 Thanks man I like it any way the subs can be inverted for better cooling? What was the port area Suburban Coming Soon
ehckz Posted January 19, 2012 Report Posted January 19, 2012 How about 4 AQ SDC2.5 10"S Maximum dimensions would be 13.5h x 39w x 26l And would it be possible to use the 6x9 slots in the rear deck has the port(s)? seems like it would be rough Build In Progress for Slamology 2013 3 m1xl 18s walled in a gti 1 5k 4 batts audio technix 1/0 8 cheap r/f 6.5s mb quart 4.60
