I assume that said wire is not used for many reasons, some of which include your statement of ignorance "simply not knowing of the product", the fact that since current is transferred along the outside of the wire multiple smaller runs "1/0" can create far greater current transfer, and finally there are a lot of properties that better wire manufacturers understand and utilize to create a dedicated product for our sport.

edit: just my .02 :pardon:

Please look up what the skin effect is and then come back to this.

someone please buy some and test! (with a whole setup on one wire of course)

EDIT: skin effect? Well, by the looks of it, there is MASSIVE surface area in the pictured wire. Lot's o' strands there.

Skin effect is ONLY for high frequency lines, not high current low voltage.

As far as I know, 9/0 does not exist..... Aftet 4/0 it's measured in circular mils, if my memory serves me correctly.

There is a serious problem with series runs - say you put a 150 amp fuse on each run of 6 1/0's. If the amp draws more than 150/ cable they don't just all pop evenly. You csn't expect to run 900 (150x6) amps for a length of time. The fuses will pop like dominoes because there are minute differences in resistance that will make one draw the most current. You might have one pop after 300 amps of draw, setting of the chain reaction.

I refuse to run without a fuse, in any application - I don't care if it's a 'careful' burp

As far as amps not taking massive wire, that's obvious. I'm talking about really big amps - have one connector at the front battery, one block in the back, and go 1/0 to the amp terminals.
