bobwires
I grew up in the electrical trade, and 1/0 to me was always 'medium' sized wire. My dad's shop had rolls of 250 and 500mcm cable - now that's mean stuff. My question is, why do you guys with serious current draw run 2-20 runs of 1/0? A single run of 2000mcm can handle something like 1200 amps with 1.9% voltage drop. Not to mention only 1 LUG! What a nice easy distribution block. Please enlighten me why I've never seen this. The only explanation that makes sense is either ignorance (understandable) or a sponsorship from a wire company. KillaCam
The only reason I could think of is well, its not common knowledge and the inputs wouldn't take it. You would need a custom adapter. And the fact more than one person agrees does not make it a circle jerk, it makes it a bukkake scene and you're in the middle Chick took 3 shots of Jager, and then, pissed in my mouth.. 412 CVX
i'd think you would lose a lot of flexibility with such a thick wire. plus with multiple runs of a smaller wire, the wires can be hidden under the carpet because it's flatter Just say no to Ground Pounder Customs. Its like owning a SMD sub and having the sub mounted inversed to show off the motor. JustinWilson
I assume that said wire is not used for many reasons, some of which include your statement of ignorance "simply not knowing of the product", the fact that since current is transferred along the outside of the wire multiple smaller runs "1/0" can create far greater current transfer, and finally there are a lot of properties that better wire manufacturers understand and utilize to create a dedicated product for our sport. edit: just my .02 06 GP GXP Google Nexus 7 16gb Rockford Fosgate 3SIXTY.3 *Electrical* DC Power 320a HP 2 - Juicebox Bananas g31 Stinger SPP2250 rear Kinetik HC1800 side of wall Optima Red Top front Monster Cable 1/0, 2 runs to rear Monster Cable 1/0 Big 3 2-Rockford Fosgate T1652S's Rockford Fosgate T400-4 Rockford Fosgate T40001bd (4693rms @1ohm) 4-Sundown SA-15 D2's wired @ 1ohm/These are on the way out for 4 one off Eminent Audio 15's 15.2 cubes net tuned @34hz! mrd6
main thing would be ease of installation and concealing such a large cable.
