BassMunky
is there a tensioner on the belt? how did he remove the belt? CHEVY4X4BLAZER
If there is a tensioner, best to use a socket and a long ratchet or breaker bar. Leverage is key. If not a tensioner, then loosen the bolts on the mounting bracket until belt is loose enough to remove.
SQMonte
Sounds pretty easy, maybe I should look for a shop manual cause I have a feeling u guys are simplifying the process. Rebel4055
Yeah gotta remove the belt. Just a tensioner that you stick a ratchet into. And no it's really this easy. SQMonte
Is that the 3400 motor? If so, this looks to be a pita cause those two rear bolts....my alt is nearly resting against the firewall so it looks like it would be pretty difficult to get to them. Gonna have to take a look at it this weekend....I hope its something I can pull off cause I prefer doing whatever work I can do myself, saves a few bucks and I learn something at the same time. Lbox88
You should be able to, probably just need about a 4" socket extension and maybe a universal joint. That mount looks very similar to mine (98 malibu, 3100) Quote UBL | Build Log
Rebel4055
It was the same as my lumina. Don't think much changes with them motors. Quote Rest In Peace mother. HatersGonnaHate
^^^^ This. The motor doesn't change. The space in the engine bay changes, but I think all the 3400's are sitting in the same position. SQMonte
Im hoping the alt isnt as close to the firewall as I think it is cause other than that it looks and sounds pretty straight forward.
