audiofanaticz
If the amp is not turning on. The first step I would take is: Find a small piece of wire a few inches long, strip both ends of it, and put 1 end in the 12volt + of the amp, and touch the other end to the remote of the amp. If the amp turns on, you then know you have an issue with your remote turn on wire. It could be a bad connection at the radio, or it could be cut or pinched someplace causing it to short out. If its not the remote wire and the amp dont turn on when you do the above. Take a DMM (digital multimeter) set it for DC Voltage, and check to make sure you have 12volts power at the amp. If you dont, your power wire is loose or disconnected someplace, or your ground is loose or disconnected someplace.
mbdblue
check all power connections at the amplifier with a DMM, and make sure your remote line is correct edit: audiofanaticz Edited January 22, 2012 by mbdblue Quote AA-Atomic-Clif Designs-DC-Diamond-Digital Designs-Directed-Eclipse-Fi-Hertz-Hifonics-Kenwood-Memphis-Phoenix Gold-Pioneer-PPI-PSi-Stinger-Sundown-TC Sounds-Viper-Zapco
MrSkippyJ
have you verified that all that stuff is good? Have you checked the power at your amp with a DMM? checked that the remote has a good 12v signal? Lots of times simply looking at a fuse won't show if it is good or not. wow, double ninja'd. dzld231
Doing the 12v to remote did not turn the amp on, so I assume that is fine. And the ground Ive done in two different spots and hasnt changed anything. There is 12V at the amplifier. Does that mean something is wrong internally and needs to be returned? MrSkippyJ
do you have a good amp you can hook up to those connections to confirm they work? Robert8252
Are you positive the power wire has power? Ground could just be barely loose or bad connection. Same with power and the fuses. dzld231
When the car is started, the amp is getting 14.8V sitting with the key in the on position were getting 12.?V We tried another amp that has been thru 2 cars of mine and it also did not work... The remote wire has a solid connection in the amp and in the back of the headunit. The power wire is good and the ground seems good. At this point Im kind of lost, Ive never had this much trouble with an amp...
