stinky feet
So originally i was thinking of doing a 6 12's in a clam shell box behind the c pillar(38.5w x 28d x 32h max dimensions then i was thinking why not go with 8 12's (50w x 48d x 33h are my max dimensions). in a clam shell or straight wall behind the b pillar. I am wanting to build for a ground pounder and this is going in a 4runner running 3000 rms to start(yes i know i have to upgrade electrical system). My question is what are the pros and cons to both set ups? I am perfectly fine with taking the back set out. Any input is welcome i will be running pioneer Ts-w303R 12's and a Hifonics Hfi1500d(i am on a budget and going to up grade as cash flow comes in). Any other thoughts on boxes welcome thanks for your time.

Kdub26
i would say its preference. but, also it depends on what the enclosures that the subs need. you said you're gonna upgrade as you move along, are you gonna change woofers? or keep them and just upgrade electrical as you go? if you change woofers, you'll probably have to change the box Quote 1992 Camry "Stormtrooper"Quantum Audio DVD/USB/AUX 3.5" single din H/UXS D690Cadence 0g wiring and Kicker 4g wiring(2) Selenium 6w4p's(2) Selenium ST200'sKicker 200.4 (mids & highs)(1)Kicker and (2)Stinger RCA'sSecondSkin in trunk and doors12K HIDsMulitcolor Angel EyesSoon to be done:Big 3Mechman H/O Altsubs?amp? Ray
I like clam because of the surface area gain and more room for port. But flat wall is alot easier to build. Miguels
or no one has got to reading it. if you are in a budget i suggest not starting the build. just wait to you get what you really want or you will be throwing lots of money out the window Quote my logshttp://www.stevemead...-my-new-set-up/my blow through loghttp://www.stevemead...future-updates/ 96 ss http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/164094-96-impala-ss-build/

stinky feet
The reason for the subs that i put is because i was just given 6 of them so i just want to put them to use. In time i will be upgrading to some Skar subs so defiantly a new box. Also upgrading the electoral so i can run 10k rms through it. Each of those subs calls for a max around 1.6 cubic feet so around 9.6 for 6 and 12.8 for 8 of them. so i think taking it to the B pillar will be my best bet for a clam shell
Kdub26
in that case, i would say wall it with the 6. then when you swap to Skar, clam it. since the subs are temporary. just dont spend too much time and money with a temporary setup Quote 1992 Camry "Stormtrooper"Quantum Audio DVD/USB/AUX 3.5" single din H/UXS D690Cadence 0g wiring and Kicker 4g wiring(2) Selenium 6w4p's(2) Selenium ST200'sKicker 200.4 (mids & highs)(1)Kicker and (2)Stinger RCA'sSecondSkin in trunk and doors12K HIDsMulitcolor Angel EyesSoon to be done:Big 3Mechman H/O Altsubs?amp? ChevyBoy95
or build what you want with the 6 like a regular wall or under the window line, specs to the skars maybe, so when you swap, no need for a new wall/box and it will perform flawlessly. upgrade power and done.
