Better get busy...only 5 weeks til slamology :)

I know, right...

Honestly, I don't expect to have the whole build done by then, but I am gonna try real hard to get the doors done, and the wall built and playing.

I'll probably just be there to hang w some bass heads, see some bad ass rides, and meet new people.

But hopefully I'll have the car able to demo at least. We will see!

Would be better if I had some help building the wall... hint hint ;)

As for updates on the doors, I finished the inner panels yesterday. Got the mounting points finished, that was the hard part IMO.

So now today I will start on the outer panel. This should be the fun part, all except the hours of sanding ahead of me...

I have some pictures, nothing too exciting. But I'll get them up tonight, along with pics from today.

It should be a lot easier to understand what I'm doing once the outer panels have at least been started.

Pack a bag and come up for the weekend some time and we'll knock it out...just not this weekend :) already got a fusion to finish up and wall a blazer I think lol and 2 shows...going to be a long weekend

Man, I may just take you up on that... I should have everything ready to start on it in 2 - 3 weeks. Also, I'm gonna text you later today, to see about the shows this weekend. I'd like to come up either today or tomorrow, and get to actually meet you guys and hang out for a bit.

Okay well I got a little bit done the past few days, not what I had hoped to accomplish, but still it's getting there.

Started assembling the sealed chambers for the 8" subs.

Before gluing them together I drilled the holes for sub mounting, and glued in tnuts from the back side.

Now that they are together, time to wrap them in fleece, and glass em up! Remember, this is only to seal them off separately from the other woofers.

536085_384866194882712_100000780034606_961139_1895755175_n.jpg

Got the fleece "resined up", and the 1st layer on the outside

542067_384866238216041_100000780034606_961140_818658414_n.jpg

Then I sanded them to prep for a second layer on the outside, and one inside as well

149347_384866578216007_100000780034606_961146_356260588_n.jpg

So here goes the inside

Inside is all glassed up now

Now for another layer on the outside

150137_384867044882627_100000780034606_961156_748206608_n.jpg

Then after sanding them again, I cut out the inner panel and started assembly.

547778_384867214882610_100000780034606_961160_677660636_n.jpg

And that is where I called it a night. So today I just gotta finish cutting dowel rods, cut out the new arm rests, finish assembling the panels, get them wrapped in fleece, and start glassing away! It's getting there, slowly but surely...

Also I'm thinking about a plexi window possibly....

Stay tuned!

you do really nice work. I like the fact that you took the time to z-nut your door pods.

yes and I will definitely check out your ride

Cool, I'm not sure what all will be done by then. Hopefully I'll at least be playing music...

But I'll be there regardless, with the car, so hell yeah!

I'm excited to meet you and check out your ride too! As well as everyone else I possibly can!

Well I got a little more done yesterday, until my girl came outside around 6:00 and asked me to hang with her. She never asks, so of course I did! Work can wait, I was getting really aggravated anyway. So today we are going to Columbus to check out a show, taking the day off from work on the car, or at least part of it... I should be back on it by tomorrow.

Anyway here are the pics from yesterday of what I got done.

First I cut the holes in the mounting panel for the subs.

532726_385399394829392_100000780034606_962590_935661581_n.jpg

403551_385399658162699_100000780034606_962593_545490417_n.jpg

The subs came with these plates for extra clearance, so I used them...

579627_385399481496050_100000780034606_962591_421318335_n.jpg

Then I started cutting out for the plexi windows

149751_385399821496016_100000780034606_962595_1977981064_n.jpg

546446_385399868162678_100000780034606_962596_1343991344_n.jpg

576307_385399931496005_100000780034606_962598_1345865703_n.jpg

Got them cut

535728_385399968162668_100000780034606_962599_471920760_n.jpg

75229_385400091495989_100000780034606_962601_261715250_n.jpg

And then a little round-over :)

537685_385400214829310_100000780034606_962603_1563233116_n.jpg

579617_385400274829304_100000780034606_962604_380519477_n.jpg

303327_385400404829291_100000780034606_962605_1636997437_n.jpg

522939_385400468162618_100000780034606_962606_338489211_n.jpg

Then I started trying to cut the dowel rods to mount the speaker rings, but that's where I got aggravated. I couldn't cut 2 pieces alike to save my life! Ended up with a bunch of different sized and angled pieces that I'm not even gonna try to use. So I decided to wait and go cut them at my dads, using the table saw.

I also realized I need to cut another hole in the mounting panel for the 5.25" to sit the way I want. And I need to cut out 1/4" inserts for the window, to use as fill. As well as some other small corrections.

So hopefully by tomorrow I'll be back on it, and things will go smoother. Thanks for checking it out, stay tuned for more!

I like the way this is going man! Looks good! I was thinking you were going to use the door as your "enclosure" for the 8's and the enclosure you made for the separation from the other speakers. my only concern is that you're not gonna have enough air space for the subs to get down low enough. Polyfill if needed I guess can take care of that. I can't wait to see what you think of them playing. Looking clean buddy! Like the plexi idea too! Keep it up!

Thanks man, I appreciate it! Yeah I would have liked to have given the 8's more room, but these doors are smaller than I thought originally, when I bought all this stuff. I can't extend the sealed chamber, like I had originally planned, there is just not enough room... So yeah I will be stuffing w/ polyfill for sure, probably the whole panel. As long as the 8's will play the top end, then they will be perfect! I got 4 - 15's going in the back for the low low stuff... :)

Well yesterday I took the day off from working on the car, and went up to a comp in Columbus for a little bit. It was pretty cool, I got to meet some people from here, and I think there were several others from this site, but I just didn't get to introduce myself or be introduced.

I did meet with kbsmoker, gotz1lung, and 97Jetta..... Everyone was really cool, and I really enjoyed my time, just wish I hadn't lost my camera in the first hour there. Then my ol lady tells me we gotta go pick up her boy, so we had to leave early, and didn't get to hang out after the show... But I think those guys are really cool, and I hope to get the chance to hang with them again soon.

So today I will get back to work, plan is to go to my dads and use his table saw. I'll try to find a camera to get some pics, but I just bought that one, and I loved it. Damn the luck...
