Alright guys. I tried some SMF Sunflash today. I did my "A" pillars I'll post pics of my process and then i'll write a short review on my experience. So on with the pictures.

Taping off both sides with about 3 layers of painters tape.

I glued up the pieces of fabric to the tape.

Then a layed down some plastic

I put the car in the garage and started soaking things down.

Then i pulled the car out into the sunlight but couldn't reall get any light on the pillars so I had to use mirrors.

Ok, I got out the big guns after a couple minutes of this crap.

And after it cured.

So, i'll post my experience in the next post.

This stuff soaks in like crazy, It actually soaked through my painters tape a bit. It's pretty easy to work with and clings to vertical surfaces very nicely.

I would like to say it needs a second warning label though. Something like "Warning: may cause great excitement which could lead to forgetting to put on rubber gloves before use. Always wear protection"

Anyway, The smell isn't bad at all, although it does have that fiberglass smell to it. My wife said to me when i came in the house that i stunk. So, I wouldn't count on fiberglassing in your living room. But if you have an attached garage and keep the doors open I don't see the smell being an issue.

Now, since i was doing "A" pillars getting sunlight to them was a pita. I had to use mirrors, and I think a couple UV lamps would be best. Steve has a thread around here with various wavelength UV bulbs so check that before buying something.

One thing i noticed is that mirrors suck at reflecting UV light. It took about 10-20 minutes to get a good cure using mirrors. I still had some tacky and wet spots even after that. I did noticed after I pulled the pieces out and resin-ed the back sides of them and put them in the sun the cure time went down to about 3 minutes.

This is about 5pm so the sun was probably at about a 45° angle. So, I believe the label claims are true.

After the Sunflash set up good the piece was nice and strong, I have had some regular resin that I didn't mix right that just had no strength to it.

Anyway, All-in-all it's a very nice product. I wouldn't hesitate to buy it again.

Anyone care to chime in on what i can do to make a headliner for this POS?

there is a 1/4" max above those slats. maybe a shave less.

Just wondering how to attach it and stuff like that.

And I got nothing on the head liner. Sorry..

Edit- maybe go to a pick an pull and score another OEM one, and cut/cover it to your choice??

On the headliner, maybe get some cardboard, and lay it out up there. Or even some chipboard or something. Anyway, lay it out, then add your sides, and everything all the way down to the pillar. Once you have all that together, I'd glass it in. In the middle you can do some threaded inserts and screw it up there, put a light up there to hide the hardware, something like that. Look for the oem attachment points and use those for the sides.

Just off the top of my head. Seems the easiest way to go about it. I'm sure someone else has a better way though, so maybe they can chime in.

Edit. Sorry maybe you could use a piece of 1/2" or 3/4" birch or mdf to attach up there, and then do a cover over it, so then that makes it more stout.

Going to bondo then paint. I'm going to install fosgate t1675-s so the tweets will go into them. I would have just bought new a pilars and built off of them but sadly i can't find any.

There really isn't any oem points. They just used flat plastic clips and the plastic side rail things held it about along the doors. lol

So, i had some trouble with the A pilars. I all come back to them later lol. If you want pics of my failure I wil be happy to post them.

Anyway, I decided to do some door work instead. It's less frustrating, slightly.

The whole assembly, when finished will screw onto the door from behind the door panel. I need to get this wrapped and glassed but it's 10:30pm here and i have to work in the morning.

Also, i need to round over the baffle. The 90° angle has to go.
