Sound deadener Advice?

I was searching online for decent sound deadener and i am a bit stuck on what to get. I need at least 60-80 sq feet preferabaly well under $200. I looked at secondskin and I reallly liked their product from what I seen. But the price is a bit steep for Damp pro or alpha damp for me at this time. Is original damplifier worth getting?. I also seen Fatmat 100 Sq feet for 139.99 but heard horrible tales of not receiving the product. any advice on a deadner that fits into my category? I dont want no damn peel and seal. the local shop here sells streetwirez but that shit is like 200 dollars for 20 sq feet!.

Well I guess I'll offer my two cents.

What are you wanting or trying to achieve?

The reason I'm asking this is that quite often people will install far too much sound deadener than what is necessary to achieve their goal(s).

This has been stated many times before, but just 25% of the panel needs to be treated with sound deadener to kill panel resonance. This is why someone who knows what they are doing is able to treat an entire vehicle with 20-30 sq. ft. of material and nothing more.

Now in terms of your question "Is original Damplifier worth getting" the short answer is yes. Of course this is coming from a company rep... so let me explain to you why it's worth getting.

Our Damplifier performs on par with and even exceeds that of most other brands material, all while being thinner and lighter. This is achieved through our use of a thicker and stronger foil as well as a proprietary butyl adhesive/damping layer.

Comparison wise Damplifier = Dynamat Xtreme

With our current sale, you can get 80 sq. ft. of Damplifier for a bit less than $195ish, but like I said may find that you need much less than 80 sq.ft. (depending on your goals).

Second skin is a good choice, but don't forget about audiotechnix. I got some 80 mil stuff and its awesome. I also have tried a pack of SS alpha damp; incredible stuff but expensive, I would recommend the alpha damp for only high flex/resonance points due to its cost.

Its going to be for a pontiac pursuit 2-door. around 6500 watts 2 15's walled. Need to do my doors, roof and floor. So whatever would reduce vibrations/rattles and maybe some road noise would be best. ??

i got fatmatt xxx rattle trap on my trunk lid..it seems to work fine but under neath it i got peel n seal....i couldnt get it off, not sure how good fatmatt is..although i did put second skin on my rear deck and that made a night and day difference

Sound deadener is designed to kill panel resonance/structural borne noise.

Rattles are caused by two panels making contact with one another. This can easily be remedied by installing something to isolate the two panels from one another. Use of closed cell foam is typically the cheapest and easiest solution.

Ok a Pursuit, wich is a G5 here in the states, wouldn't require as much material as you original thought. Just go with 25% coverage per panel and you'll save a ton of time and money.

I'm estimating:

2 sq. ft. per door

4-5 sq. ft. for the roof (less if you have a sun or moon roof)

1-2 sq. ft. for the rear quarter panels

8 sq. ft. for the floor

4-6 sq. ft. for the rest of the trunk

So all totaled up, 20-30 sq. ft.
