Basson50 Posted April 3, 2012 Report Posted April 3, 2012 Hello everyone,, when your running multiple runs of 0 guage , do you run your power line coming from the back straight to the alt or to the front battery then the alt.... Rite now I have the big three done, then I have my power wires from the battery bank in the back running directly to the alternator. My grounds from the battery bank are running to the motor mount in the front. I noticed that when I added two grounds in the back from my battery bank to a bolt under the seat my voltage went up a little. Are my connections rite or should I change something up.
MrSkippyJ Posted April 3, 2012 Report Posted April 3, 2012 It is usually easiest to use a battery as a common point for all connections since you have more options as far as terminals or connections. Technically speaking, running directly from the alt reduces connections that reduce flow (ie. more resistance which equals lower voltage and lower current) but a minimal amount if done correctly. n8ball2013 Posted April 3, 2012 Report Posted April 3, 2012 you are going to have an easier time getting it to the battery. Its easier to buss bar at the battery htan the alts. Either way is fine and ive seen it done both ways. n8ball2013 Posted April 3, 2012 Report Posted April 3, 2012 you will still need an upgraded run from the alt. if your alt is capable of 270 amps you wont be sucking that thorugh the stock wire THERE IS NO BUILD LOG! 1998 Chevy Silverado ext cab Alpine CDA-9887 4 Team Fi 15s 2 Ampere Audio TFE 8.0 2 Ampere Audio 150.4 3 Digital Designs CS6.5 component sets Dual Mechman 370XP Elite alternators inbound! 8 XS Power d3400 6 XS power d680 Second Skin Stinger Tsunami Wiring Sky High A Real Voltmeter not a piece of shit stinger.
Mariobjones Posted April 3, 2012 Report Posted April 3, 2012 The current flow will still be the same, unless youre using different size wire.
