You could also use something like a flexible ruler to get as close to the custom curve you are wanting to cut for tighter seal - should be able to find one at a local art store.

That was actually what I was wanting to do, but I forgot to pick one up. I saw it in another build thread on here, and thought "Damn that's genius." I think I might go get one today haha.

another thing you can do is this

trace your shape out.

cut your piece to fit.

Get something like this http://www.walmart.com/ip/Duck-Air-Conditioner-Insulating-Seal/17133817

glue it to the outer edge of your trim pieces

install trim pieces making sure you dont rip the foam off.

if you are close the foam will finish filling the gap along the entire contour of the panel.

Exactly! That was my plan in theory, but I wasn't sure if it would work. Now I know it will. Thanks. I'll get that ruler and make sure my cuts are about 1/8th or so smaller so the foam will fit snug.

Looks good so far, are you going to just make side pieces or make an entire baffle so you can flush mount the subs?

Im thinking just trim panels that attach to the current baffle on the edges, and wrap those with something. I don't want to deal with anymore wood LOL.

To get the right amount of net airspace after displacement and such, I would have had to contour the wood to the car, cutting all sorts of angles which I wasn't too comfortable with. I didn't want to fuck up 200 dollars worth of birch. I decided to go sealed because I knew I could build the box by myself, and since it was the first actual box I've built, it seemed a lot easier to do a sealed design. I have no clue how to design a GOOD ported box. So sealed was just simple. Plus, I saw this as a "stepping stone" so to speak, in my journey through the mobile electronics world. I would feel much more comfortable NOW doing a ported design vs 4 months ago.

Plus, when I'm listening to Dimmu Borgir or Black Dahlia Murder, I remember why I went sealed. lol.
